How Do You Like Your Batman?

Posted on February 12th, 2010 by Manic | Ramblings

There are several ways to view superheroes who have been around for decades. Some prefer to see Spider-Man as a well-balanced everyman, while others see him as exceptionally nerdy. Superman might be an alien pretending to be human, or he could be as human as they come in personality. However, I believe no superhero has created interpretations as divisive as Batman. No, really. I haven’t seen a Looney Tune cartoon in years. Do they even come on TV anymore?

Yes, I know the movie has been out since the Spring. I only just got around to watching it myself, and I needed to break NuMutant’s months-long hiatus. So here is my review for DC’s animated Wonder Woman movie! Keep reading…

Jocasta has fully integrated into the new base’s computer systems, and the team is both eager and cautious at what their new home could possibly be. Doctor Who #1

“Silver Scream” Part 1 of 2

Back in March, IDW announced an ongoing Doctor Who comic series, after the success of Doctor Who: The Forgotten. Part of the big announcement was that the first issue will team the Doctor up with classic star of silent films Charlie Chaplin. They even released early cover art featuring a man who is clearly Chaplin. Unfortunately, as noted by writer Tony Lee, Chaplin’s estate wouldn’t allow IDW to use his name or likeness at the last minute. The result is a few last minute edits to the artwork and lettering, as Charlie Chaplin and his signature tiny mustache have been transformed into Archie Maplin with a comically large mustache.

A different man, I assure you.

“Day of Death (Part II of IV)”

It’s time for another issue of Booster Gold, the greatest hero you’ve never heard of! After the perplexing cliffhanger at the end of #21, Booster Gold must journey back in time to protect Dick Grayson during his days as Robin, so that he may one day live to succeed Bruce Wayne as Batman. Once again, this issue features a backup story starring the Blue Beetle, my review of which can be found near the bottom of this article.

New Shoes

Posted on July 8th, 2009 by Manic | Updates

As you may have noticed, I’ve given NuMutant a bit of a redesign. It’s a little less gawdy, and I kinda like it. If you’re using an 800×600 screen resolution, then I want to apologize for making you side-scroll. I wouldn’t worry about missing anything on the far right of this page, though; it’s all external links. Beyond the surface, I’m planning to expand the overall content of the site. From now on, I’m going to include live action television and (to a much lesser extent) movies. So look forward to that in the future.

With all that said, I’d like to remind you all to subscribe for all future updates.

“We’re putting the band back together”

Joss Whedon’s eighth season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer continues, and it’s clear that we’re coming closer and closer to the season finale. Several plot threads and side-stories are coming together, and the main characters are finally reunited. Also, after several issues of disappearing into the background, the villains have finally started to make their move. However, before the Slayers can mount a heroic effort to save the world, they must first retreat to save themselves.
