I thought I’d share the hilarious promotional picture Marvel has released for Incredible Hercules #132.

When is it Dazzler’s Turn?

Posted on May 3rd, 2009 by Manic | Ramblings

When the X-Men made their move to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2008, one of the things Marvel’s editorial team kept promoting was the return of Dazzler to the X-Men. Dazzler hasn’t been part of the team since the 1980’s, where she began a relationship with fellow X-man Longshot. During the 90’s, both Dazzler and Longshot had disappeared into the Mojoverse, making only a few scant appearances throughout the years. They were gone, but not entirely forgotten.

After the events of House of M reduced the number of mutants on Earth by a large but questionable percentage, Dazzler suddenly reemerged in the cast of Chris Claremont’s New Excalibur comic. Though an X-Men spin-off and included within the general ‘X’ franchise, Excalibur wasn’t officially The X-Men. Also, practically no one read (or particularly liked) New Excalibur. It’s like she wasn’t back at all.

So when the X-Men moved from their home in upstate New York to the Marin Headlands just outside of San Francisco, one of the many things we were promised was the triumphant return of Dazzler. She’s coming back! Dazzler reporting for duty! Let’s see some lights!

So far, Dazzler has done jack diddly shit. I’m serious. In fact, here’s a full list of everything I’ve seen her do since the X-Men moved to San Francisco:

  • Visit Pixie in the X-Men’s infirmary [Uncanny X-Men #502]
  • Perform at a night club [Uncanny X-Men #503]
  • Perform at a night club [Uncanny X-Men #509]
  • Go out drinking with Northstar and Pixie [Uncanny X-Men #509]
  • Take a plane ride from the UK to the US [X-Men Manifest Destiny #5]
  • Stand around during a Skrull invasion [Secret Invasion: X-Men #3-4]
  • Look behind her back [X-Infernus #4]
  • I may have missed another night club performance and a few “standing around to fill out a scene” appearances, but I think you see my point. Frankly, I’m not even a Dazzler fan. I’m just severely disappointed at how underused the character has been after so much hype was made of her return. You’ve got me interested. How about you make the effort to actually make me care about the character, Marvel? How about a little effort, hm? You’re taking the time to make me care about new characters like Pixie. When is it Dazzler’s turn?

“You look like Oprah on hiatus.”

Posted on May 2nd, 2009 by Manic | Updates

“A full month with no articles or updates? Where the hell have you been?!” Living life, my friends. Living life. Anyway, I figured it’s about time for me to end my unannounced, unnecessary hiatus, and get back to writing random things about cartoons and comic books.

My weekly comic book reviews will begin again next week, and I’ll be making a few alterations to all subsequent reviews over the proceeding weeks.

I already have one comic-related article hammered out, and you should be seeing that one on Sunday.

I’ve been wanting to write a Cartoon Chronicle about Scooby Doo, but I realized I’m just too damn big of a Scooby fan to sum up the entire franchise within a few paragraphs. That’s why Scooby Doo will be receiving its own spin-off category, the Scooby Chronicles, where I’ll be writing a series of articles just about Scooby Doo. Of course, the regular Cartoon Chronicles will continue as normal.

Just as before, I’ll try to have at least one thing written each week in addition to the weekly reviews. There’s no specific day of the week set for updates, so be sure to subscribe to my feed.

I may also consider redesigning the site, but that’s more of a long term idea.
